  • For parents of Year 2 and Year 6 children

    Mon 22 Feb 2016 R.King

For all parents who have children in Y2 and Y6 this year, we have uploaded some very useful documents onto the website that explain the changes and expectations of the new style SATs tests that your child will be sitting this year.

These documents are to be found under the 'Curriculum' menu and is titled: 'How to help your child at home.'

We would like to point out that these documents are produced by a commercial company and the school in no way endorses the products that this company sells.

  • Bedtime Story Pyjama Party

    Fri 12 Feb 2016 R.King

Many, many thanks to all of the children who came back after school last night with their pyjamas and sleeping bags for a 'Bedtime Story'.

We had over 70 children come back from KS1 at 5.00pm and the same again for KS2 at 6.00pm. Lovely stories were read by staff and all enjoyed hot chocolate and biscuits at half time.

Huge thanks must also go to Mrs Jones for organising such a lovely reading event, it really shows how much our families and school community value stories and the written word - so very refreshing in this digital age!

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped prepare the hall, make the refreshments and read the stories.

I hope to put some magical photos up on the news page for all to see how fabulous it was. We very much look forward to doing this again next year - Books Rule!

    Christingle

We finally counted all the coins donated by our families and can now report that we raised a whopping £241.00 for The Children's Society over the Christmas term.

Many thanks to everyone who filled a cardboard candle. Your pennies will make a big difference to the lives of young children  who are in need.

  • The new beginnings of Long Bennington Academy's Orchestra....

    Fri 05 Feb 2016 R.King

After week two, the members of the orchestra feel that they are very keen to participate in the Grantham Music Festival.

The arrangements selected by Mrs Evans are challenging yet achievable with practice and determination.

I have a feeling that we are going to have one fantastic orchestra to show off at the festival.

We will also organise a music night so parents can see the work that has been done.

Well done everyone - keep up the good work!
